For our second movie of the week we look to the 2010 action comedy The Losers. I recall seeing trailers for the film when I was in high school but other then that I didn't know a thing about this movie before today.
The film boasts a fantastic casts of some of today's greatest action movie stars including Chris Evans, Jeffery Dead-Morgan, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana, Christopher Short, Oscar Jaenada and Jason Patric. The actors or the best part and both Evans and Dean-Morgan shine in their roles/

The Losers follows a squad of Black ops soldiers who have been framed and assumed dead. Leader Clay (Dean-Morgan) and his squad mates Jenson (Evans), Roque (Elba), Pooch (Short) and Cougar (Jaenada) as they try to track down and find the man that set them up. Aisha (Saldana) helps the group get back into the states as long as they promise to take no survivors.

I really enjoyed the action in the film, the shoot outs, the telekinetic scene and the final fight of the movie was pretty good. They put a lot of work making the action in this movie enjoyable and I am glad they did. They also have some funny moments. With the soccer team, the apologizing and of course, the telekinetic scene.

Action scenes can only take a movie so far, sadly the story did nothing to help save this movie. At first it was interesting, how they were framed and assumed dead, then you introduce Aisha as the guy they killed father and they expect you to remember his name? It took me a minute or two to piece together who exactly they were talking about. Also, By having Rouqe turn evil for such a stupid reason and then having the bad guys hire him. HE JUST BETRAYED HIS FRIENDS OF COUNTLESS YEARS, WHY DO YOU THINK HE IS A GOOD GUY TO TAKE CARE OF A BILLION DOLLARS?!

This movie has also taken bad endings and created an example on the best bad ending of all time. Rather then providing a satisfying conclusion to the store, which most action movies do these days, they leave it open for a sequel. The main bad guy is still alive, all you did was kill some henchmen and your friend. I understand wanting to turn The Losers into a franchise, but by doing that they made people not want to invest in another movie so they don't get shafted like that again.

Is The Losers treadmill friendly? Yes. During my experience I found that it was not to distracting so I could still focus on my run and be able to understand what going on. Although this was probably my most flawed movie as not only did I get two phone calls during my run but in the last 15 or so minutes of the movie my treadmill shut down, hopefully its back up and running tomorrow.
The Losers is a fun action movie at first, but the longer you watch it the more and more you get disinterested by the plot. although the cast does a great job at playing the characters they are not able to save the bad plot.
Overall
Rating: 2 out of 5
Pros: Funny, well done action scenes, great cast
Cons: Worst movie ending ever, the story loses traction, did I mention the ending?
